The Lady of the Seas
by Bowienet member
Farawayeyes

ship ahoy
and she looks quiet
in the dormant sea
away to board her are frightened men
whose wives love them
no sound no sympathy
the distressed lady of the seas

where is the crew
all loyal to the captain
the evening meal set out
not a crumb eaten
odours unfamiliar linger
dampness and cold
in the belly of the lady of the seas

none too sure
but it was said
a cry and a whisper
was heard
though silent not a creak
she stood
the lady of the seas

there they left her
no log
no proof
but a drunken sailor's tale
and though they drink to her
none will wish to see her
the lady of the seas
